Comparison

Claude Code video skills compared

Claude Code can make videos once it has a skill that shows it how. There are now several open-source ones, each with its own engine and its own idea of how you give feedback. Here they are side by side, from their own repositories, with FrameJam among them.

Facts about other tools are from their official docs and websites, as of Oct 2026. Each one links to its source, and all of them are listed under Sources.

What each one is

A Claude Code plugin is a bundle of skills, agents, hooks and MCP servers that installs as one unit; a skill on its own is instructions Claude loads when relevant.

Remotion's Agent Skills are the official best practices for working in Remotion projects, for agents like Claude Code, Codex, Kimi Code and Cursor. Use them in any Remotion project; more on that in Remotion with your agent.

Hyperframes ships 21 skills that agents load on demand, plus a Claude Code plugin. They cover planning the video, writing valid HTML, animations, media, linting, preview and render. More in Hyperframes with Claude.

Code2MP4 calls itself an open-source, agent-native video production pipeline that helps coding agents plan, script, storyboard, generate, review and render videos. It runs as a local web app and hands rendering to Hyperframes. An npm package is on its roadmap.

claude-motion-design makes motion design videos "in pure code: HTML + Playwright + ffmpeg", with no After Effects or Remotion. Its flow goes from inputs to a beat map to four approved stills to the full render.

product-launch-motion turns a website URL into a product launch video. It makes the creative calls itself and logs each one as a DECISION: line you can overturn in a reply.

Where FrameJam is different

FrameJam isn't tied to one engine. It reviews the rendered file from any tool, so it works next to every skill above. What it adds is the part that's hard in chat: you watch the render, click a spot or drag across a range, and Claude gets every comment with its timestamp and a frame image with your pin drawn on it. It also brings 30 styles and 15 playbooks, like product launch videos and motion design showreels, and works the same in ChatGPT and Cursor.

Already using one of the other skills? Keep it. Build with it, then type /framejam:start when you get to feedback:

/framejam:start Open renders/v1.mp4 for review, wait for my comments, and apply them in this project's own tool.

The Claude video guide shows the full loop, and how to make videos with Claude shows how to turn your own process into a skill. Choosing between the two main engines? See Remotion vs Hyperframes.

Playbooks to start from

A playbook is FrameJam's method for one kind of video. Your agent follows it in whichever tool the project uses.

Questions

What is a Claude Code video skill?

A skill is a folder of instructions (a SKILL.md) and often scripts that Claude loads when a task needs it. A video skill teaches Claude a way to make videos, usually by writing code in a framework like Remotion or Hyperframes and rendering it.

Can I use more than one?

Yes, and FrameJam is built for that. Build with whichever skill you like, then type /framejam:start when you get to feedback: FrameJam opens the render for review and sends your comments back to Claude.

Do these skills work outside Claude Code?

Several say so. Remotion's skills name Claude Code, Codex, Kimi Code and Cursor; Code2MP4 names Claude Code, OpenCode, Codex and Gemini CLI. FrameJam installs as a plugin in Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor.

Which one should I start with?

If you already have a Remotion project, Remotion's skills. For a new project, the Hyperframes skills. For a launch video from a URL, product-launch-motion. Add FrameJam to any of them for the review loop, styles and playbooks.
