Dot Field Showreel

Viewfinder HUD, one-second colour cuts, kinetic type and a dot field that ripples on cue.

16:9Fast pace7.5senergeticcraftedshowy

Motion-designer showreel style for portfolios, studio reels and 'what we can do' intros. A camera-viewfinder HUD (corner brackets, timecode, scene labels) frames rapid scenes: tumbling letters with a glitch slice, outline-stack type on electric blue, a frame counter on orange, a grid of dots rippling in orange and blue waves, and a lime end card.

Five scenes in 7.5s. Short scenes ~1–1.2s, the dot field gets ~2.2s to show two waves.

Transitions and text

  • hard cut with full background colour switch every ~1–2s
  • glitch slice: two clipped colour copies jump sideways for 4 frames
  • letters tumble in from above with alternating ±28° rotation
  • outline rows slide in from opposite sides around one filled word
  • frame counter ticks 0240 → 0261 with a progress bar
  • dot field ripples via grid stagger from centre, then from a corner
  • end word expands from scaleY 0.1 with outline echoes

Style guide your agent follows

  1. Keep the viewfinder HUD on top of every scene: four corner brackets, reel label, frame timecode, scene name, author. Flip it from light to dark on light backgrounds.
  2. Cut hard between near-black, electric blue #2b45ff, orange #ff5a1f and lime #d4ff3a; never two adjacent scenes in the same colour.
  3. Each scene shows one technique and names it in the HUD (Type, Intent, Timing, Systems, Move).
  4. Type: Archivo Black for the hero word, Instrument Serif italic for small connecting words, outline copies for echoes.
  5. Dot fields are a fixed grid animated only with grid staggers (from centre, from a corner) so the motion reads as a system.
  6. Drive counters and HUD text from one clock tween's onUpdate so seeking stays deterministic.
